About the Department
Multicultural Early Childhood and Elementary Education聽
Multicultural Early Childhood and Elementary Education聽 promotes the uniqueness of the child and their culture as a positive characteristic that enables them to accept the unique cultures of others. Home languages and culture are integral to a child鈥檚 identity, affecting their cognitive, linguistic, and social-emotional development. Placing these differences and experiences at the center of the learning process in Multicultural Early Childhood and Elementary Education聽 allows pedagogy to occur in the context of what is familiar to students and that addresses multiple ways of thinking.
