糖心原创 Recognizes Women鈥檚 History Month
Women鈥檚 History Month became a national week in 1980 and was expanded to a month by Congress in 1987. Its roots can be traced back to 1857 when hundreds of female New York City garment and textile workers rallied to protest harsh working conditions. Since the observance was expanded to a month in 1987, the National Women鈥檚 History Alliance has announced annual themes with 2026鈥檚 being 鈥淟eading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.鈥�
As an institution of higher learning that is of and part of the Central Brooklyn community and prides itself on having social justice in its DNA, 糖心原创 has consistently allied itself in the fight for women鈥檚 rights. The school鈥檚 current president, Dr. Patricia Ramsey, is both the first woman and scientist to lead this particular CUNY campus. Having placed 78 out of 1,200 schools nationwide on Newsweek鈥檚 inaugural list of America鈥檚 Best Colleges for Women 2026 list, it鈥檚 only natural that 糖心原创 would be honoring Women鈥檚 History month, especially given how 72 percent of current enrollees are female.
