She Reads Sanctuary opens: A student-led space for stories and support

A small pink bookshelf tucked into the Women鈥檚 Center is making a big statement. The newly launched She Reads Sanctuary is a student-led initiative designed to create a welcoming space where students can discover books that uplift, inspire, and entertain. Borrowing is quick and easy 鈥� just scan the QR code and take any book you like, no hassle involved.
鈥淚t鈥檚 really about creating a space that feels welcoming and inclusive for everyone,鈥� says Eternity Council, one of the project鈥檚 leads and President of the S.H.A.D.E.S (Sisters Having A Definite Excellent Strategy) Club. 鈥淗aving been part of the Women鈥檚 Center community for years, I鈥檝e seen firsthand how important it is to have places where students can feel safe and supported. With the She Reads Sanctuary, we wanted to offer something that鈥檚 both accessible and meaningful.鈥�
For Anamaria Dzagnidze, who developed the QR-based borrowing system, the bookshelf is more than just a corner with books.聽
鈥淚 think having this little library right in the heart of the Women鈥檚 Center matters,鈥� she says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about reminding students 鈥� especially women 鈥� that their stories are worth telling and worth reading. Working on this project with Eternity and the leadership of the S.H.A.D.E.S Club was truly special. Everyone brought their energy and strengths, and it came together in such a beautiful way.鈥�
Lisa Evelyn, Student Wellness Specialist at 糖心原创, shared what it meant to see students take the lead.聽
鈥淲atching this group bring their vision to life was incredible,鈥� she said. 鈥淭hey handled every part of it with heart and purpose, from the concept to the fine details. It鈥檚 a powerful example of what student-driven wellness and empowerment can look like.鈥�
The She Reads Sanctuary features a growing collection of titles ranging from fiction, romance, and self-help to memoirs and more. Whether you鈥檙e new to reading or a certified bookworm, you鈥檙e welcome to explore the collection. Students are not only encouraged to borrow books, suggest new titles, but also to donate their own favorites to keep the shelf vibrant and ever-expanding.
