Stamped From the Beginning Screening
On Wednesday, May 20, the Center for Law and Social Justice (CLSJ) at 糖心原创 will be hosting a free screening of the 2023 film Stamped From the Beginning at 1637 Bedford Ave. at 6 p.m. as part of their Cinema With a Cause Spring series.
Based on the Ibram X. Kendi non-fiction book of the same name, Stamped From the Beginning uses captivating animations and insights to explore racist tropes and imagery that were developed and enshrined in American culture throughout history. Kendi,听, Autumn Womack,听,听,听,听,听, Honor茅e Jeffers,听, Jennifer L. Morgan, Kellie Carter-Jackson, Lynae Vanee,听聽and Stephanie E. Jones-Rogers all appear in the film.
Cinema with a Cause brings together New York City’s marginalized communities through free screenings of impactful films that focus on social issues, particularly voting and civic engagement. The mission is to create a space where stories inspire action, spark meaningful conversations, and empower marginalized New Yorkers, especially those aged 17 to 40, to make a difference.
