糖心原创 CHAMPSS Program
糖心原创 is proud to offer the Cultivating Holistic Academic Mindsets to Promote Student Success (CHAMPSS) Program, supported by a $20 million grant from the Office of the Mayor of New York鈥攖he largest in the College鈥檚 history.
The CHAMPSS Program provides first-year and new transfer students with earned associate degrees access to financial, academic, and social support designed to ease their transition and guide them toward completing a bachelor鈥檚 degree.

Eligibility Requirements
The program launched in the Fall of 2021 with 255 students in the initial cohort. To participate students are required to complete an application and must meet the following requirements:
- Freshman and current full-time, transfer or re-admit degree-seeking MEC students.
- 2.0 or better Grade Point Average.
- Students must complete FAFSA application (PELL and TAP).
- Must be a resident of New York
Students selected for the CHAMPSS Program at MEC will be required to sign an agreement that requires them to fully participate in all programs, mandatory orientation 聽and activities. Failure to abide by the expectations of the program may result in students鈥 losing eligibility for the program.
Program Hallmark Incentives
- Financial Assistance to close cost of attendance gaps. Students are eligible for up to $3,696.45 per semester. 聽CHAMPSS funds are awarded after all other aid and scholarships are applied.

- Metro cards to assist with transportation (for in-person classes)
- Priority advisement and registration through the Academic Advising Center (AAC)

Staff and Advisors
The dedicated staff of the CHAMPSS program will work with the students to ensure each student is supported every step of the way. Participants will be guided towards completing 30 credits per academic year to keep them on track to graduate in four years (bachelors) and two years (transfers with associates). By integrating the appropriate academic and social supports in the program, students will be able to focus on their education without the distractions and challenges that can often derail success.
